Dequam LaWesley Wright was born in Montgomery, AL and became a seventh-round pick of the Dodgers in 2003. The 5-10 lefthander was claimed by Houston in the 2008 Rule 5 draft and went 4-3 with a 5.01 ERA in 71 appearances for the Astros that year. He bounced between Houston and the minors the next three seasons before blossoming in 2012 with a 2-2 record and 3.27 ERA in 77 games.

Wright appeared in 54 more games the next season before he was sold to Tampa Bay. He finished his career with the Cubs, Orioles and Angels. As an Astro, he compiled a 10-15 record with a 4.44 ERA and two saves over six seasons.
