A speedy infielder from the Dominican, Jonathan Villar was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent in 2008. He was part of the 2010 Roy Oswalt trade that also brought J.A. Happ to the Astros.

In parts of three seasons (2013-15) with Houston, Villar batted .236 with 10 homers, 46 RBIs and 42 steals over 198 games. He also personified those 100-loss teams with a head-first slide that ended with his face firmly planted into the rear end of Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips.

Dealt to Milwaukee for Cy Sneed, Villar became the NL stolen base champ in 2016 with 62 thefts. He was traded to Baltimore during the 2018 season and has been signed by the Marlins to a free agent contract for 2020.

In his seven overall seasons, the switch-hitter has compiled a .261 average, 78 homers, 268 RBIs and 202 steals with a .736 OPS.
