Cuban-born Valdespino debuted as a rookie with the Twins in 1965 and played in a World Series in his first year. However, his career did not take flight from there. He kicked around with the Braves, Astros, Pilots, Brewers and Royals to complete a seven-season career. Valdespino (pron: Val-de-SPEEN-oh) hit .244 in 41 games with the 1969 Astros before he was dealt to Seattle for Tommy Davis. Overall, he hit .230 with seven homers and 14 steals. |
