The righthander from Barstow, CA, had one golden moment with the Astros. In his first start after being acquired from Toronto in a deadline trade, on August 3rd, 2019, Sanchez tossed six hitless innings as Houston no-hit Seattle, 9-0, at Minute Maid Park. He also started the 23-2 massacre at Baltimore in his next start that set numerous offensive records.

A former All-Star, Sanchez was a supplemental first-round pick of the Blue Jays in 2010 and compiled a 32-33 record with them over 5½ seasons. However 2019 got off to a 3-14 start which made him expendable and he was dealt to Houston along with Joe Biagini for outfielder Derek Fisher.

After four appearances with the Astros (2-0, 4.82 ERA), Sanchez required surgery on his right shoulder and was sidelined for the rest of the year. His contract was non-tendered after the season and he is not expected to be ready when the 2020 season begins.
