A native of El Paso, TX, Rodriguez had a brief call-up with the Angels before joining the Astros in 2011. He appeared with two other pitchers named Rodriguez -- Wandy and Aneury -- although none were related to each other.

Fernando was a steady presence for two seasons in Houston, winning four and losing 13 with a 4.77 ERA.

Just before Spring Training 2013, the Astros shipped Fernando, along with Jed Lowrie, to the Oakland A's for Chris Carter, Brad Peacock, and Max Stassi.

The righthander resurfaced with Oakland in 2014 and pitched for three seasons, going 7-2 with a 3.74 ERA over that time. For his career, Rodriguez finished with an 11-15 record and a 4.35 ERA.
