Jacob Todd Odorizzi was a late addition to the Astros' pitching staff, signing a free agent deal after the spring training injury to Framber Valdez. However, he should not be viewed as a fill-in. The righthander from Illinois is a 2019 All-Star who has pitched nine years in the majors for the Royals, Rays and Twins.

Odorizzi (pron: Oh-dur-rizz-ee) has compiled a 62-56 big league record with a 3.92 ERA, logging over 1,000 innings pitched. He had an injury-plagued 2020 season but was 15-7 with a 3.51 ERA in his last full campaign.
