Dealt from the Yankees at the 2010 trade deadline for Lance Berkman, Melancon (pron: mel-AHN-son) had two short stints with the Bronx Bombers before the trade. The Colorado native and University of Arizona product established himself as the closer during 2011 when Brandon Lyon was injured, posting 20 saves. He became the first trade of the Jim Crane era when he was sent to Boston for shortstop Jed Lowrie and pitcher Kyle Weiland.

Through 2019, Mark has compiled a 28-26 record, a 2.85 ERA and 194 saves in 11 big league seasons.
