A supplemental first-round draft pick in 2008, Lyles debuted with the Astros at just 20 years of age. He started his career with seven shutout innings against the Chicago Cubs. The majors were a bumpy ride for the righthander, going 14-29 with a 5.35 ERA over three seasons in Houston before getting traded to the Rockies after the 2013 season as part of the deal that brought Dexter Fowler to the Astros.

Since then, the South Carolinian has spent the decade with Colorado, San Diego, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh. He is signed to pitch for the Rangers in 2020. Over nine seasons, Lyles has posted a 43-60 record with a 5.11 ERA.
