The Venezuelan righthander made the jump from A-ball during the virus-plagued 2020 season and appeared in five regular season games at the end. In 12-1/3rd innings, he allowed seven hits and five walks while striking out nine for a 2.92 ERA.

He was a surprise addition to the playoff roster and made a start in Game 5 of the ALCS against Tampa Bay, tossing two hitless innings before handing the rest of the game to the bullpen in an eventual 4-3 victory.

He continued to impress during the spring training of 2021 and made the Opening Day roster.
