Selected by the Astros in the third round of the 2014 draft out of Cal State-Fullerton, Davis had trouble cracking a stacked Astros lineup in 2017-18, filling in at third base, first base and left field. He batted .194 with five homers in 66 games over two seasons before he was dealt to the Mets for minor league talent. In the Big Apple, Davis became a regular in 2019 and had a breakthrough season, batting .307 with 22 homers, 57 RBIs and an .895 OPS.
