A native Houstonian drafted in the 21st round by the Astros in 2001, Albers reached the majors in 2006 then had several starts in 2007. His record over this time was 4-13 with a 5.87 ERA. The righthander was included in the offseason trade from Houston that brought infielder Miguel Tejada from Baltimore.

Albers returned to the Astros in 2014 but injuries cut short his season after eight games with no decision.

He has continued to pitch in the majors with additional stops in Boston, Arizona, Cleveland, the White Sox, Washington and Milwaukee. Through 2019, his career record is 47-48 with a 4.35 ERA and seven saves.
