Retrosheet? What the heck is that?

Retrosheet is a non-profit organization chartered to recover and preserve the play-by-play accounts of every major-league game in history. While this seems like a daunting task for a volunteer organization, they have had remarkable success to date.

Since a systematic effort collect play-by-play data was started in 1984 by Total Sports, Inc, Retrosheet has focused on seasons prior to 1984. They have collected scoresheets of every major-league game since 1974 and are constantly at work loading play-by-play accounts in their computers. A lot of work is also spent cross-checking data for accuracy, and they have completed this effort for seasons 1978-1983.

Retrosheet is non-profit and they are making the fruits of their labors available for FREE to anyone who wants to use them. See their website at www.retrosheet.org for more details.

What does this have to do with an Astros website? Out of the 6,352 Astros games played from 1962 to 2001, Retrosheet still needs scoresheets for 107 Astros games played from 1967 to 1973. All other seasons are complete for the Astros. The games that are still needed are listed below. Of these games, 35 were played in Houston and 72 were played on the road.
