RHP Michael Bruce Fiers was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 22nd round of the 2009 amateur draft. He debuted for the Brewers in 2011 and posted a 21-28 record with a 3.66 ERA over five seasons for them.

Fiers was the "throw-in" player in the 2015 deadline deal that brought him and Carlos Gomez to the Astros from Milwaukee. Mike promptly rewarded Houston in his third start; on August 21, 2015 he tossed a 134-pitch no-hitter at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the eleventh no-hitter in Colt .45s/Astros history, and the first for any team at Minute Maid Park.
