Collin McHugh pitched one of his best games of the season and a few timely hits by the Astros offense helped secure a 4-1 win over Arizona. McHugh had command of all his pitches, throwing a first pitch strike to the first 16 batters he faced. Collin worked his way out of some early trouble, including a pickoff of Jake Lamb at second-base to end the second inning. McHugh picked up his 13th win of the season, joining teammate Dallas Keuchel atop the A.L. leaderboard.

The newest member of the Astros' lineup, Carlos Gomez, broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single in the fourth inning. Evan Gattis added an opposite field home run in the fifth and the Astros' pitching and defense took over from there.

McHugh lasted seven innings, striking out six while allowing eight hits and one walk and throwing 72 of 100 pitches for strikes. Pat Neshek fanned two in a perfect eighth, earning his 24th hold. Luke Gregerson tossed a scoreless ninth for his 22nd save.

The win gives the Astros a league best 38-18 record at home. Now the task is to go out and improve upon a 22-28 road record. The club starts a 9-game road trip Monday with a 7:10 game in Arlington against the Rangers. Lance McCullers Jr. gets the start against Colby Lewis. The Rangers' veteran right-hander has been tough on the Astros this season, posting a 2-0 record and a 0.79 WHIP in three "Silver Boot Series" starts. The Rangers are currently in third place, eight games behind the Astros.

Meanwhile, the Anaheim Angels fell victim to a walk-off homer by Andre Ethier, giving the Astros a 4-game lead in the division standings. The Angels return home Monday to start a 3-game series against the Cleveland Indians.
